Doctor Who bosses had to cut a scene after discovering that Scottish star Karen Gillan could not swim, the actress has revealed.
Gillan, 24, said co-star Matt Smith first realised that she could not swim when they went for a dip in between shoots.
The problem was further exposed when filming a scene in which the Tardis was flooded.
She joked that it ruined the show.
“I can’t swim,” Gillan said. “There was actually a scene in one episode when I needed to swim in the Tardis, and they cut it out. I have ruined the show.”
Smith added: “I thought she was drowning.”
The actress, who has just finished filming Scottish indie flick Not Another Happy Ending, was chatting ahead of her final episodes on Doctor Who. She admitted she did not realise how big the show was before joining.
“I wasn’t that scared because I was 21 when I did it so I had blind optimism on my side,” she said.
