BBC Doctor Who has Happy Birthday, Russell. Many happy returns to Doctor Who's former Executive Producer and lead writer, Russell T Davies! Seen above with the Tenth Doctor, David Tennant, during the shooting of Turn Left (which is repeated tonight on BBC Three!), Russell recently returned to Cardiff for Wizards Vs Aliens. The new show is being filmed for CBBC at Roath Lock and follows the adventures of two boys - a secret wizard and his scientist friend - as they attempt to thwart hostile aliens. Russell described his new series as 'a wild, funny, thrilling and sometimes scary collision of magic and science fiction.' Given that Russell has previously been behind triumphs including Torchwood and the resurrection of Doctor Who in 2005, we can't wait to see it and know it's going to be brilliant!

Den of Geek has What fandom did for Doctor Who. Andrew looks at the role fans played in bringing Doctor Who back after its cancellation in 1989, and talks to one of those responsible for its revival...  "It is said that the cancellation of Doctor Who in 1989 was marked by earthquakes, bad dreams, the closing of quarries, and, shortly afterwards, the issuing of several contracts by Virgin Publishing. However, the only people this is said by are Doctor Who fans, and there are several possible theories to explain this...."

BBC America - Anglophenia has Rogues Gallery: The Zygons. Sometimes the fact that Doctor Who is supposed to be a family-oriented TV show, designed to be watched on a Saturday evening around a picnic tea, blows the mind. Take the eponymous monsters in the Fourth Doctor’s Scottish romp Terror of the Zygons. They are a tiny band of disposessed aliens, one stray ship of a species that has come from a far-off and long-destroyed world, and they have crash-landed into Loch Ness in Scotland. Being aliens, the first thing they do is set about building a despotic cyborg, a monster that can eat oil rigs, but whose milk they need in order to survive....

Beware most podcasts are of an adult nature and are not suitable for children.

The Whostorian has Episode 35 - Continuing Our Ultimate Adventure. This week we talk about Melanie Bush, Producer Peter Bryant, The Ultimate Adventure stage play and we take a look at Black Orchid. In the Death Zone we find The Destroyer of Worlds Vs. The Krynoid.

DWO Whocast has Episode 240. Nightmare of Eden. Yup. That's about the size of it.

The Memory Cheats has Episode 7 - Planet of Evil ....a story made smack dab in the midst of Philip Hinchcliffe's horror-esque (and brilliant) run as producer of Doctor Who, is either known as the story featuring some of the best set design seen in the series, or the story that was broadcast before the legendary Pyramids of Mars. Or, perhaps, as the story that was reviewed after one of TMC's favourite stories ever…?

Review's Roundup...

Siskoid's Blog of Geekery has Doctor Who 157: The Macra Terror Part 3. Though it's not yet a cliché, it will be - the Doctor and his companions spend their time in captivity during the third episode of a four-part story as a way to pad the story out. At least it's not a matter of escaping only to be captured again by episode's end....

TARDIS Eruditorum has Does It Offend You? (The Twin Dilemma). Unlike The Caves of Androzani, The Twin Dilemma made it as the worst story for two polls running. On basic quality, this might not be quite fair. It's very bad, but as a matter of competent production and provision of a modicum of entertainment it's not demonstrably worse than many others. If you were to show someone a selection of this, Warriors of the Deep, The Horns of Nimon, Mark of the Rani, and The Monster of Peladon and ask them to pick the worst of them I don’t think you’d see this one picked in particular excess to the others....

Bigger On The Inside has All-Consuming Fire. Sherlock Holmes and Watson are hired by Pope Leo XIII to recover stolen books containing information about mystical beasts. Their investigation leads them to a mysterious man called the Doctor, assisted by two women, Ace and Bernice....
