Doctor Who fans the world over will soon know who Jenna Louise Coleman is. The former Emmerdale actress will be joining Doctor Who, probably in time for the 2012 Christmas special.
After wild speculation that Sophie Myles was the new companion Steven Moffat has again thrown another curveball, selecting someone not even rumored to be in the mix for the role.Hailing form Blackpool, the twenty-five year old actress will replace the departing Karen Gillan as the next companion. Her casting was revealed late Tuesday night on these shores but an official BBC announcement is expected on Wednesday.
She certainly will bring some spice to the show as she has twice been nominated for ‘Sexiest Female’ at the British Soap Awards.
She has appeared in as Jasmine Thomas in Emmerdale and played Lindsay James in Waterloo Road. She is going to be seen on ITV in Britain this week as Annie Desmond in Julian Fellowes’ Titanic mini-series. She also had a small role in Captain America: The First Avenger.
We will learn more about her character and backstory with the BBC announcement later today. It has been rumored that she will play a companion who is not from Earth.
