Whovian News....

Daily Mail has Matt Smith on stunning companions, he's now halfway through his second series, and Smith has created his own vivid version of the ‘mad man with a blue box’ who travels through space and time, seeing off alien armies (and picking up foxy companions) with a wave of his sonic screwdriver. He’s a gangly genius in bow tie and tweed, part professor, part rock star – witty and eccentric, but often with no idea what to make of people.....

The Daily Record has TV stars Matt Smith and Karen Gillan swap Doctor Who for Shakespeare, Matt Smith and sidekick Karen Gillan are planning to team up again ... in Shakespeare's Macbeth, Inverness-born Karen - who plays the Time Lord's companion Amy Pond - wants to land the role of the doomed king's infamous wife, and Matt jumped at the chance of joining her on stage, Karen, 23, said: "I want to be Lady Macbeth, it's a role I have always wanted to play", Matt, 28, added: "and I want to be Macbeth, so let's do that. I'd quite like to do a play"....

Review's Roundup...

Reverse The Polarity Films has Audio Review 6: Hornets' Nest - 1.The Stuff of Nightmares, written by Paul Magrs (2009), the Doctor stumbles on a plot by an alien hornet species to invade the Earth through animated stuffed animals. As the stuffed animals only come alive at night, he tricks the alien hornets, and their stuffed animal vehicles to follow him back to his resident cottage, the Nest, whereupon he traps them there with a force field from the TARDIS’ dimensional stabilisers....

Doc Oho's Big Finish audios reviews has Brotherhood of the Daleks written by Alan Barnes and directed by Nicholas Briggs, the TARDIS materialises. Despite console readings to the contrary, the Sixth Doctor and Charley step out, unexpectedly, into an alien jungle, where they find themselves stalked and then ambushed. They have landed in the middle of one of the Dalek wars, and this time the tactics used by both sides are threatening the very nature of reality....

The Daily Drew has "Timewyrm: Exodus", these were not great books by any means. They were slim, easy-to-read adaptations of previously televised "Doctor Who" stories, and they are credited (with some hyperbole, perhaps) with teaching a generation of British children to read. The most important thing about the novelizations was that they gave young fans a way to explore the history of the series before the days of home video and DVD....

Review's Roundup...

stuartreviewsstuff has Dr Who: The War Machines Review (or “Dodo Gets Wellnessed”), the TARDIS lands in the Swinging 60s, The Doctor goes to a Nightclub, we get a preview of the UNIT era 4 years early, writer Ian Stuart-Black appears to invent the Internet, Frank Butcher is an extra, mass-production is set up in record time, Dodo gets the worst send-off in history, Ben & Polly join the show and a massive computer with a haunting voice breaks the established 4th Wall of the show by brazenly talking about ‘Doctor Who’ (something that is never done again, thank god)....

Tea with Morbius has Spearhead from Space, the Pertwee era is definitely one of my least favorite parts of the Doctor Who legacy. Nevertheless, I can't help sharing the sense of excitement and anticipation that Spearhead from Space exudes. Coming right after the slightly repetitive format of the Troughton era, Spearhead from Space feels new and fresh....
He also has Original Sin, by Andy Lane (Virgin New Adventure), there is plenty of humour and fun in this book. Nevertheless, there is also a lot of tragedy and suffering in it. The new reports detailing violent events at the start of every chapter are poignant and there is a strong theme of the pain of memories. The way the Hith changed their names to reflect the fate of their people has enormous pathos. Original Sin presents a very bleak future world. I don't think it is conveyed with the same realism and immediacy as Transit, but it is still a very interesting one.....

The Edwardian Adventurer has Doctor Who 129 – The Smugglers Part 3, the Doctor and the innkeeper are able to escape from The Black Albatross.  This proves disasterous to their guard when Pike returns. The Squire and Pike, while the escape is occurring, decide the best way to be rid of Ben and Polly is to convince the revenue agent that the two Londoners murdered Longfoot.

Torchwood: Miracle Day - 'The Categories Of Life' Reviews and Extras USA Version (SPOILERS)

Torchwood: Miracle Day - 'The Categories Of Life' has now been aired in the US, here is around-up of the reactions and reviews from around the web, for those of you who haven't seen it yet beware as this will all be considered SPOILERS.

What Did you think of it? Take the Poll here

'The Categories Of Life' Reviews....

Guardian Unlimited has Torchwood: Miracle Day – episode five, And so it was, with episode five that what we have come to know as the "Children of Earth effect" came into play, and Miracle Day finally realised its potential. Just like in that fabled five-parter, Torchwood finds its country by looking at humanity through a camera contact-lens, darkly. And we don't come off too well. Yes, it was signposted last week, and yes RTD has been giving interviews about the dark happenings of episode five ever since the press launch....

TV.com has Torchwood: Matters of Life and Category 1, new sanctions have been approved by the United Nations and legislation has been signed in the U.S. to clarify the definition of "life." You're no longer just alive, you're either "healthy alive," "unhealthy alive" (Category 2), or "dead alive" (Category 1)—which is basically dead. Naturally, some people have a problem with this. The whole idea is a clever and messy mashup of the real-world principles of universal versus privatized healthcare and pro-life versus pro-choice, with the government deciding who gets what kind of medical care and what exactly "life" means....

The Faster Times has The Categories of Life, the plot of Torchwood: Miracle Day seems to have settled on a path, but I’m not sure if its themes are following. It’s taking the form of a conspiracy thriller, an attempt by good (?) people to promulgate the labyrinth of deception perpetuated by the terrors of the capitalist world; the media, the drug companies, the government....

Shadowlocked has Torchwood s4E5 review, Russell T. Davies has never been one to shy away from throwing a blaring spotlight on the current political clime, and this week’s episode of Torchwood proves it. Jane Espenson is back on writing duties to give us a scathing look at medical care, insurance battles, pharmaceutical company practices, and most frightening, the true ugliness of human nature. If you can make it to the end of this episode without a lump in your throat and disgust for medical bureaucracy, you need to check your pulse....

Los Angeles Times has 'Torchwood' recap: Off to camp (and in deep trouble), well, I’ll give “Torchwood” some props for this: I didn’t see it coming that the “modules” at all of the overflow camps were actually ovens, used to burn the living dead alive. I have absolutely no idea where Russell T. Davies and company are heading with this revelation, but it was a twist that was unexpected and yet completely obvious once it was revealed. In other words, it was the best kind of reveal, and “Miracle Day” has had too few of those throughout its run so far.....

'The Categories Of Life' Extras...

DWO TorchCast has Number 5, Phil and Mark digress.. alot. Also the plot is discussed for the 5th episode of Torchwood - Miracle day.

'The Categories Of Life' Tweets...

kellyannb: Loving the direction #torchwood #miracle day is taking. Very excited to do an alignment for this one.

sawcatsims: Torchwood has a very bad record with doctors

Miracle Day just gets crazier and crazier. @JaneEspenson and co. def

redsoxchickie: At this point I'm convince Bill Pullman is drunk but not so much acting on #torchwood.

ThatEvanFowler: Torchwood: Miracle Day makes absolutely no sense whatsoever.

Torchwood4Fans @torchwood_starz @JaneEspenson Congrats on the most shocking Torchwood episode ever.Just brilliant! And after CoE I thought I'd seen it all.
