Eat or die! Dalek cake, okay; it’s a Dalek cake. I’m pretty sure the current batch of Daleks have a force shield that would stop chocolate from being able to cover it (and would prevent some grumpy git blinding their eyestalk with mud and pushing them on to their coat).

Doctor Who episode three: The Curse of the Black Spot, preview, after the confusingly complex two-parter to open the series, we return to rather more traditional Timelord territory tonight: TARDIS lands in unfamiliar world, hostile alien puts said world in peril, Doctor helps natives fend off threat. He, Amy and Rory are marooned aboard a 17th century pirate ship in distress, skippered by grizzly-bearded Captain Avery (played with relish by Downton Abbey’s Hugh Bonneville)....

Doctor Who 2.2: Day of the Moon review, the scene of last week, in which River and Rory share their problems of being in the orbit of the dazzling Doctor, was just the beginning – these two characters and their dilemmas provide the heart of this story, a story with a lot of plot crammed into it, but which still manages to let these characters shine....

The Dalek Handbook, ....is really two books for the price of one. The first is the detailed story of how the Daleks were produced and the constant challenges of trying to make a massive army of cybernetic death machines when you don’t actually have any more than three working models of them. This is fascinating and, often, very funny to read, and the special effects team on the show emerge as some of the great unsung heroes of 20th century science fiction.....
