The Edwardian Adventurer has 103 – War of God (The Massacre Part 1), John Lucarotti makes his return to Doctor Who in what is most-likely the most complicated historical the show has ever done. The story centers around the climate in Paris leading up to The Saint Bartholomew’s Day Massacre. Being from the United States, I have little knowledge of this particular event (indeed, many of the modern audience could probably say the same), so I did a bit of digging around on the internet to get a general idea of the event.....

Den of Geek has Doctor Who: Mara Tales DVD review, with its latest Doctor Who release, 2-Entertain unleash a double whammy of highly regarded stories from the 1980s, linked by their shared use of the abstract ‘villain' (and sometime giant snake) known as the Mara....

Professor Bernice Summerfield goes with Irving Braxiatel to secure this unique object for the Braxiatel Collection. But this is not a straightforward sale there is a murderer on the loose, on the trail of whoever owns the Halstad Harp.....

stuartreviewsstuff has The Edge of Destruction (or How to Make a Story Confusing by Cutting Out a Line of Dialogue Crucial to the Plot), at only two episodes in length, this is one of the shorter stories in Doctor Who’s initial run from 1963-89. Indeed, between now and the end of the Sylvester McCoy era there are really only 5 more stories like this. Two parters tended to be a means to an end – something to fill air time between stories, to fill a quota of episodes per series or – in the upcoming case of The Rescue – to introduce a companion....

Editor's bit...

Todays picture is Localised eruption by Harnois75, From Dr Who, either the end of The Dominators, or the start of The Mind Robber, the TARDIS is swamped by a lava flow and there's only one means of escape; a leap into unreality.

The News...

BBC Doctor Who has Celebrating the Series: Victory of the Daleks, after two episodes that introduced a new Doctor, new companion and new-look TARDIS, we now had new versions of his oldest enemy...we first encountered the Daleks in an early episode that was broadcast in 1963. He immobilizes a solitary Dalek, but then comes face to face with firing squad. This is the final installment of this strip from 1967.

Review's Roundup...

Tea with Morbius has The Space Pirates, by all accounts, this story cannot really be appreciated in audio format. This is very much intended to be an highly visual story, with heavy use of modelwork to create various spacecraft. I suppose it is in part the limitation of the audio format, but I find The Space Pirates incredibly boring. It does feel awfully padded in places. Some of the plot elements feel like they have been used a few too many times before, such as the Doctor defusing a bomb at the last moment.....

planetzogblog has Doctor Who 1.8: Father’s Day review, "this should be a big emotional story but is it really, isn’t it more confusing than emotional? The confusing aspects are the time-travel elements. Previous to this story, there was a slow accumulation of Doctor Who “time-travel rules” – that were mainly if not always consistent – but this throws in a lot of new concepts into the mix....."

The Daily P.O.P. has Doctor Who and the Power of Kroll, apparently when Graham Williams drafted his brief on Doctor Who as part of his application for the role of producer, he suggested the rough beginnings of the Key to Time. Williams postulated that there were vast cosmic forces kept in balance by two opposing beings (later to become the White and Black Guardian).....
