Adventures in Time, Space and Music has Episode 14 – Series 23, Part I, The Mysterious Planets of Dominic Glynn – Part I – The Mysterious Planet and the Ultimate Foe, ...the Mysterious Planet, penned by Doctor Who veteran writer Robert Holmes, was a 4-part story which originally aired between the 6th of September and the 27the of September 1986 on BBC One. Radio Free Skaro has Episode 236 - Brave Heart, Teague, as the countdown to Gallifrey One continues (less than two weeks away!), the Three Who Rule tumble in to the collected works of director Colin Teague in this week's instalment of the Miniscope. Despite Teague's opprobrious epithet, the Three were pleasantly surprised at his directorial skill which constantly shone over some of the written inspiration he had to work with. Also dealt with was the news of the week, featuring all three hosts blanking on the duties of a recently added Gallifrey One guest (it's prosthetics - duh).

Two-minute Time Lord has 2MTL 189: Hoping for a (Torchwood) Miracle, "Children of Earth" was undeniably brilliant, but it ran the Torchwood concept through a Cuisinart. Is there enough left for "Miracle Day" to feel like Torchwood, or something new entirely? And is that a good thing?

Shadowlocked reviews Attack Of The Cybermen, it's the story that kicks off season 22, something of a turning point in Who history for a number of reasons. It begins Colin Baker's first proper season and also sees a return to the traditional Saturday night slot. And then it takes inspiration from the previous year's Resurrection Of The Daleks in a couple of ways. For one thing, like that story, season 22 tales are told in blocks of 45 minutes rather than 25. That's common practice nowadays, but back then, it was something of a novelty....

Doctor Who Monthly 431 Cover and Details

The latest issue of Doctor Who Magazine features an exclusive interview with writer Mark Gatiss, who lets slip a few details about his new script for Matt Smith’s Series Two.

"Doctor Who has been the biggest thing in my life really, and it’s entirely because I was scared stiff of it – but I loved it,". "It didn’t traumatise me, and a healthy scare is as important as a good laugh. It’s exactly the same emotion, I think. Steven Moffat said to me, ‘Make a Barret home terrifying like you did in Crooked House,’ but Crooked House was on at ten o’clock at night, this is on at six. You have to find that balance..."

  • Barbarism Begins At HomeCannibalistic old ladies, teenage girl gangs, and something very unpleasant in the basement. It can only be the Seventh Doctor’s adventure in Paradise Towers, analysed in The Fact of Fiction. Ice hot!
  • This Night Has Opened My Eyes! Want to take a trip in the TARDIS? Of course you do! Well, now you can, at the brand new Doctor Who Experience, opening at Kensington Olympia this month. DWM presents an exclusive preview of what to expect…
  • The Boy With The Thorn In His Side! Giant heads, blue faces and a whole lot of wood. No longer just a Saturday night in Hoxton – it’s a new adventure for the Time Team, as they travel to witness The End of the World!
  • These Things Take Time! Continuing our Countdown to the 50 years of Doctor Who, writer Simon Guerrier looks at First Doctor William Hartnell’s second series – a season that saw the series reach incredible heights of popularity...,

  • Handsome Devil! A page full of random journeys, supporting artists, fascinating facts and the Bidmead-ometer… it’s another dollop of Who madness in Wotcha!

planetzogblog has Doctor Who 1.4: Aliens of London, if the snow-crunch from Rose stepping out of the TARDIS (of the previous story) was the wonder of time-travel, this start of this two-parter illustrates the possible horrors. In an expansion from Classic Doctor Who, it’s not just the main TARDIS crew which the adventures in time and space affect from story to story, as Jackie and Mickey have an unpleasant time and a shock as Rose returns....

Tachyon TV has The Keys of Marinus, Adventures with the Wife in Space Up until now, Sue has been oblivious to some of the show's more, shall we say, regrettable shortcomings. She didn't notice the cardboard Daleks, she wasn't bothered by the hastilty scrawled note on the TARDIS console, and she has failed to pick up on any unfortunate floor manager chatter.....

Cathode Ray Tube has Time and the Rani, by 1987, Doctor Who found itself in the unenviable position of being unloved save by the most die hard of its remaining fans. The 18 month hiatus imposed by Michael Grade and the very public sacking of Colin Baker had certainly taken their toll. The series had diminished in the popular consciousness.....

Bigger On The Inside has “But the truth is, the world is so much stranger than that.”, ‘Love & Monsters’ by Russell T David doesn’t have a good reputation. It was the first Doctor-lite episode, the monster design was both too comedic and repulsive and had a joke at the end which was decidedly poor taste....
