Matt's Mum manages fan mail, Moffat on Xmas special, Wyle had a Dr Who Scarf, plus a pick of the blogs...

Northampton Chronicle & Echo has Matt Smith's mum talks about managing Doctor Who fan mail, ...his mother Lynne Smith, from Billing, often has more work for him to do in the form of autographs for some of his thousands of fans, Lynne, who also runs a shop called The Accessory Room in Kingsley, Northampton, uses any quiet moments she has to handle the hundreds of requests sent to Matt.

Premium Hollywood has Steven Moffat discusses 2010 “Doctor Who” Christmas special…but not very much, "given that the annual “Doctor Who” Christmas special is still several months out, I knew full well that Steven Moffat wouldn’t be willing to offer up much in the way of information about what we could expect to see come December, but since I’d been fortunate enough to sit down with him – along with Mark Gatiss – in connection with their work on “Sherlock” (which comes to PBS in October), I couldn’t very well miss the chance to ask about it, anyway....."

io9 has Noah Wyle: I had a Doctor Who scarf as a teenager, we'd heard years ago that Wyle's mom knitted him a Doctor Who scarf when he was a teenager, and apparently it's true. He still has it, and he might pass it along to his seven-year-old kid when he's a bit older. This seven-year-old hasn't been introduced to Doctor Who yet, which means he's about three years too old to start discovering the show.

The Doctor Who News Page has Dead Air nominated for Best Audiobook, written by James Goss and read by David Tennant, the Audiobook was released in March this year.

Doc Oho's Big Finish audios reviews
has …ish written by Phil Pascoe and directed by Nicholas Briggs, a conference of lexicographers: bromides in tweed. But the leading expert in the field is found dead by her own hand - and by her hologlyphic assistant. Is he responsible? Does the death fit any conventional definitions? Can the Doctor realise who wrote the suicide note and why, exactly, it was riddled with spelling errors? Peri should help out, but there's a guy.

Shadowlocked has....
  • Reviews: Day Of The Daleks, sfter an absence of nearly five years, the Daleks were back, back, back! Even if the second Doctor mused over their apparent “Final End” in The Evil Of The Daleks, in fact, it just turned out to be a rather lengthy pause. Especially when there are ratings to be had.
  • Reviews: The Sea Devils, ...is one of the most memorable Pertwee stories, and also, arguably, one of the best. It’s neared Genesis Of The Daleks status with quite a few repeats on TV - including the 1992 one which caused quite a few laughs at my 6th form college. OK, so the music’s weird, the two blokes reacting in ‘horror’ to the invading Sea Devils at the castle looked ridiculous, but the story stands up as perfect entertainment.

The Daily P.O.P. has Doctor Who and the Evil of the Daleks, voted by many as not only the greatest Dalek story but the best Doctor Who adventure ever, the Evil of the Daleks has quite a reputation to live up to.

DCL Temporal Engineers
has Scripting Tips 11: Sim-friendly listeners one of the worst offenders for lag are listeners - scripts that listen for commands in either plain chat (channel 0) or from HUDs. With HUDs, clothing resizers and other objects listening all the time it can cause a lot of lag - so we're going to look at an effective way to cut down on the amount of lag a listen causes.
