The Doctor’s multipurpose tool is a Gallifreyan device, with numerous settings, easily controlled at the press of his thumb. Order from Forbidden Planet.
I already have one of these. It's a very idiosyncratic bit of kit. Once extended, you can only operate it with the red button at the bottom instead of the one at the side, although if you grab the extending bits and slightly pull them back into the body of the screwdriver, you can get it to sound that way as well. It alternates between slightly different sounds, the green light isn't as bright as the blue on the Tennant version and I don't think it's as loud either - but it IS wider and about two inches longer both expanded and contracted.
