Without mentioning plot spoilers, we discuss the fandom’s reaction to these and speculate about what they mean (ed: added to the pods and audio button on the editor's bit).

Gallifreyan Embassy

BBC Doctor Who has...
Tin Dog Podcast has released TDP 097: Terminus (ed: added to the pods and audio button).

Radio Free Skaro - The Chronic Hysteresis has...
  • XX5 - The Seeds of Death 5, this story saw a greater use of out-of-sequence recording, which hadn't been attempted that often up to this point in the programme's production history.
  • XX6 - The Seeds of Death 6, one of the reasons that The Seeds of Death was made was to try and recoup the cost of production of the Ice Warrior costumes that were made for their debut in the previous year's recording block.
  • YY1 - The Space Pirates 1, I wrote earlier about how, in The Seeds of Death, it took over eight minutes for The Doctor to first appear in the story and how surely, at the time, that must have been a record.
  • YY2 - The Space Pirates 2, it isn't really until the very end of this, the second episode, that The Doctor and his companions become even remotely involved in this story.
  • YY3 - The Space Pirates 3, this story is the next in a run of classic Dudley Simpson scores.
  • YY4 - The Space Pirates 4, "usually, before settling to watch each story on this marathon of mine, I try and flush all preconceived notions of how the story I'm about to view ranks with me, based on previous viewings, or more generally in the eyes of fandom."

Doctor Who Torchwood - The Blog has Doctor Who Illuminations – The Inside Information, meet Sarah, a skilled artist who works (amongst other things) with the Blackpool Illuminations team, as a “sandgrown” I have spent my entire life admiring the Illuminations, as a small child remembering exciting tram rides and open top bus tours and as an adult (working on the golden mile myself) I realise just how much the illuminations mean to Blackpool’s economy).

Radio Free Skaro - The Chronic Hysteresis
has...
  • XX2 - The Seeds of Death 2, while The Doctor and his entourage worry about getting a rocket ready to launch for the first time in years back on Earth, the much more interesting story in this episode is, again, taking place on the Moon.
  • XX3 - The Seeds of Death 3, mention must be made at this point about the score for The Seeds of Death, as provided by Dudley Simpson.
  • XX4 - The Seeds of Death 4, finally, after six years of having either William Hartnell or Patrick Troughton take a week off and having the story suffer as a result, this, the final Doctor-less episode in the series' history, shows how writing The Doctor out of the episode for a week can be done without stalling the story in its tracks.
Billie Doux has a review of Doctor Who: 42, Martha: "I can't believe our lives depend on some stupid pub quiz."

Gallifreyan Embassy has Dancing TARDIS, Par for the Course at Gallifrey, "this video came my way courtesy of our own Tara Wheeler who is actually in this video. No, she is not the one dancing, nor is that her TARDIS which is dancing, but she and her TARDIS are there nonetheless. She quickly takes to safety in her TARDIS when the dancing one enters the room at Gallifrey 20 (February 2009). I know that is what I would had done as well."

The Gallifrey Vortex has Exclusive Interview: Simon Guerrier, in this interview, we ask him about his career and his most recent contributions to Doctor Who, two novels entitled The Pirate Loop and The Slitheen Excursion.

Two Minute Thoughts on Torchwood and a New Who Cast plus a Pick of the Blogs

BBC iPlayer (UK only) has Doctor Who - Series 2:2. Tooth and Claw, the Doctor and Rose travel back to the year 1879 and into the Scottish Highlands.

Two-minute Time Lord has 2MTL 53: Final Thoughts on Torchwood, Fandom and Choices, "title says it all. See you in a few days!" (ed: added to the pods and audio button).

Doctor Who Online
has released WhoCast episode 130, still more to be said about Torchwood apparently, more specifically, Children of Earth, its characters and their motivations (ed: added to the pods and audio button).

The Doctor Who News Page has Tennant's Hamlet comes to PBS, America's Public Broadcasting Service (PBS) has announced that the Royal Shakespeare Company's recent production of Hamlet starring David Tennant and Patrick Stewart will air in the US as part of the network's "Great Performances" series in 2010.

Radio Free Skaro - The Chronic Hysteresis
has...
  • WW1 - The Krotons 1, three words that, for years to come, will bring so much joy and hope towards Doctor Who fans that what they are about to watch just might be the most entertaining 24-and-half-minutes they'll have seen in some time, appear for the first time at the beginning of this episode: "By Robert Holmes".
  • WW2 - The Krotons 2, this episode will always hold a special place in my mind because it contains the very first glimpse if Patrick Troughton I ever had as a youngster.
  • WW3 - The Krotons 3, "I mentioned earlier how this story is the debut of esteemed writer Robert Holmes, but I've neglected to mention that this story is also the premiere Doctor Who television performance* of Sir Philip Madoc."
  • WW4 - The Krotons 4, well meaning characters, especially people who are in positions of power, are not long for the world in Doctor Who stories.
  • XX1 - The Seeds of Death 1, Episode One of this story features what might be, at the time, the longest elapsed time before The Doctor appears in the story - 8 minutes, four seconds, by my reckoning (although this mark will be shattered very soon). Two entire settings and plot threads are started up, Osgood, who looks like he's going to be a major character, is introduced and killed before we even see the TARDIS materialize.
Behind the Sofa has Win Doctor Who: The Stuff of Nightmares, "thanks to BBC Audiobooks we have 5 copies to give away."

TachyonTV
"Breaking News: BBC worried that new series of Dr Who isn't camp and frothy enough - an emergency Collinson has been flown in to advise."

  • "In TV Choice mag the look at next week is a photo from Waters Of Mars with "A look at the new season" although WOM isn't due until Nov."
arussell "The new Muse track sounds like Doctor Who. Not sure quite what to make of it."

NovemberDied
"Is very happy to hear ANOTHER new muse track... Doctor Who-y! [Now I've got to go listen to it another million times ^^"

Mission of the Viyrans and Fax the Betamax plus Will There Be A Doctor Who Movie?...

I noticed that BBC Worldwide have removed the YouTube clip of 'Hornets Nest - The Stuff of Nightmares' (see previous post) for 'copywrite' reasons, why?

Was it doing any harm, did it detriment sales or maybe it's because it didn't link to the BBC shop where they have the audio clip concerned, should they turn a 'blind-eye' to fans trying to advertise their products for them?

Answers on a coffee packet to @BBC Worldwide.

  • VV6 - The Invasion 6, this is the episode, of course, that features the famous, iconic scene with the Cybermen marching down the steps of St. Paul's Cathedral.

  • VV8 - The Invasion 8, I always have a soft spot for stories, and TV programmes and films in general, that have the main antagonist and protagonist join up and fight what they both no realize is their common enemy.

The TARDIS arrives on Androzani Minor, the source of a life-prolonging drug refined from a substance called Spectrox. Production of the drug is controlled by Sharaz Jek, a madman in self imposed exile, who blames Morgus, a powerful industrialist on Androzani Major, for all his misfortunes. The two sides are pitched in a convoluted ongoing war which, unknown to Jek, gives Morgus a monopoly of Spectrox on his planet, Major. Jek becomes infatuated with Peri, and saves her and the Doctor from being executed on Morgus’s orders. However, the two travellers learn that they have contracted spectrox toxaemia, a fatal disease. The only antidote is the milk from a queen bat, which the Doctor must find in the deep caves on Minor. With moments to spare, the Doctor carries Peri back to the TARDIS, where he gives her all the milk he has collected. She recovers, but the Doctor has to regenerate to save his own life.
