Radio Free Skaro - The Chronic Hysteresis has X2 - The Plague, once you get over the impressive visuals of this episode, and, indeed the serial as a whole, the general mediocrity of the story starts to take centre stage. There's a couple dodgy performances - Zentos and the Controller, namely - that serve to drag the first two episodes down. Plus, it's also a bizarrely paced story in that the first two episodes are separated by the last two by 700 years., and X3 - The Return, so the Doctor returns to the ark 700 years later, and finds out that his first visit has left some remarkable footprints.

The Key To Time

Triumph of a Time Lord: Regenerating Doctor Who in the Twenty-first Century (Paperback) Cover and Details

TARDIS Message Boards - Calendar
Before Saturday March 26th 2005, 'Doctor Who' had been off the air as a regular, new TV series for more than fifteen years; until a production team led by Russell T. Davies re-imagined the programme so successfully, so triumphantly, that it's become an instant Christmas tradition, a BAFTA winner, an international 'superbrand' and a number one rated show.

It's even been credited with reinventing family TV. This is the first full-length book to explore the 'new Who' phenomenon through to the casting of Matt Smith as the new Doctor. It explores 'Doctor Who' through contemporary debates in TV Studies about quality TV and how can we define TV series as both 'cult' and 'mainstream'.
Further, the book challenges assumptions in focusing on the importance of breath-taking, dramatic moments along with narrative structures, and in analysing the significance of Murray Gold's music as well as the series' visual representations.

Matt Hills is a lifelong 'Who' fan and he also considers the role of fandom in the show's return. He investigates too the multi-generic identity, the monster-led format, and the time-travelling brand of BBC Wales' 'Doctor Who'. In the twenty-first century, TV is changing, but the last of the Time Lords has been more than ready: he's been fantastic.

00:25:00:14 DOCTOR WHO - SENTENCE OF DEATH
00:25:08:16 DOCTOR WHO - THE KEYS OF MARINUS

Big Finish has Dalek Dialogue, "a few little snippets of Dalek-related information for you. Firstly, those who've picked up Enemy of the Daleks will have heard some nifty little extra interviews, but due to time constraints and the inclusion of the second episode of The Three Companions, we had to leave quite a bit of material on the cutting room floor. So, for CD subscribers only, if you check your Subscription Downloads box in your account, you'll find a file of extended interviews about the story."

vortex of mirth has posted Deleted Scene: The War Games.

The Ultimate Doctor Who Site has Doctor Who DVD Files - Issue 11, the cover and info for this fortnight's edition.

Radio Free Skaro - The Chronic Hysteresis has W2 - The Sea Beggar, if Steven felt like a fish out of water after being essentially abandoned by The Doctor in 16th century, then he must have felt even more alone after he falls out with his new found Huguenot friends after they suspect him to be in league with the Catholics, W3 - Priest of Death, the grimness in this episode, and the story, really, is unrelenting, to its credit. There is no humour in this story at all, and it would seem out of place if it was there. No one seems happy, yet no one seems evil, either. There are no real villains or heroes in this story, as in real life. The story is populated entirely by "real" people, which makes their inevitable fate all the more interesting, and W4 - Bell of Doom, for the second straight story, The Doctor appears out of nowhere in the final episode without an explanation as to where he has been for the past episode and a bit. As in The Daleks' Master Plan, it's a bit jarring, but it's welcome news for Steven, who thought that The Doctor had died in the street the night before.

"I'm very sad that the Doctor Who Forum will soon be closing down.  I now realize exactly how much a part of my life it has been."

Outpost Gallifrey the Doctor Who Forum To Close

Outpost Gallifrey
Outpost Gallifrey and the Doctor Who Forum, the most popular Doctor Who fan website on the Internet, will be closing for good as of July 31, 2009. The announcement was made in the Forum and the Doctor Who News Page on June 2 by owner/operator Shaun Lyon, whose statement about the closure is below. The closure of the site has been planned for a couple of months. It should be noted that this will NOT affect the Gallifrey One conventions, preparations for the next installment of which (Gallifrey One: Blackjack 21) is on course for February 2010 in Los Angeles.
For many, this will come as an enormous surprise. For some, probably not so much. Two years ago, I shut down the day-to-day operations of the Outpost Gallifrey website, retaining its News Page as a continuing entity administered by news editors, as well as the Forum run by a moderator team. But all good things must come to an end, and several months ago, I began planning the eventual shutdown of the website and forum by taking a first step: the cessation of taking paid patron memberships, in order to run down the cash coffers (which I projected could last around five to six months without any additional input from new or renewing members -- current patrons were simply extended indefinitely as we announced). At the end of July, any remaining funding (expected to be very little, if any) will be donated to a noted charity, save for costs for the one item that *will* (and actually must) continue to function at gallifreyone.com -- the web space for our long-running Doctor Who convention, Gallifrey One, which enters its twenty-first iteration next February.

Since 1996, Outpost Gallifrey has served as a valuable source of news and information in the online world. Since 2001, the Doctor Who Forum has created an enormous sense of community amongst Doctor Who fans, far longer than I (or perhaps anyone) ever anticipated. When the BBC shut its own DW forums down, we underwent massive growth that created the largest focus for online Doctor Who discussion and debate in cyberspace, and I'm very proud of that fact. Of course, the announcement of the new series in 2003 certainly helped that, and its debut has seen our profile rise exponentially. But as they say, it's better to go out on a high, which is exactly what we're doing. Some may wonder if there is a catalyst for this decision, when in fact it's nothing but a simple and straightforward desire to move onto other things... a decision I made several months ago, counselled by many friends and supporters for a long time.

People will wonder out loud: why don't we spin it off, or why don't I pass it along to others? Simply put, Outpost Gallifrey is nothing but a concept, a concept I created, but which now rests in the hands of the fans who utilize it every day. It's a title, and you don't need a title to continue... you already have the community. Like our site and forum, the Internet has grown exponentially. There are other communities to visit on the Internet, obviously, and we encourage you to visit them. But of course, if these communities do not serve your needs (and we expect many won't), we encourage you to take the course that I did 13 years ago: create your own space. This is, in fact, why we're giving notice to the Forum community two months early -- sufficient time for our members to find their own direction, to create new communities, new forums, and perhaps utilize new methods of communication. Through the friendships and community you've created here.

Outpost Gallifrey (and its Forum) have always remained near and dear to my heart. We've been a powerful voice in the online Doctor Who world, collectively, and the powers that be have listened (and continue to be active, if invisible, readers of what has been said). We've helped influence the course of the Doctor Who universe, through fan interaction with Big Finish Productions, BBC Books, independent publishers and even the Doctor Who Production Team. And we've made terrific friends throughout the world, from inside the BBC to inside the homes of tens of thousands of fans in the US, UK, Australia, Canada, New Zealand and elsewhere.

I am eternally grateful to everyone who made this site and forum a reality, from a spectacular team of administrators and moderators (led by the phenomenal efforts of Steve Hill) in our Forum, to our brilliant news editors who have kept the News Page updated as often as possible with the latest from the world of Doctor Who, to everyone else who has supported us and made us the biggest and most popular fan-run site on the Internet for the past thirteen years, through good times and bad. Thank you, everyone.
